Cold brew vs iced coffee, clearly.
Both are cold. Both are coffee. The extraction method and result are genuinely different.

Cold brew is steeped cold for 12-18 hours, smooth, chocolatey, low acidity, higher caffeine (~200mg per 12oz at Café Mia). Iced coffee is brewed hot then poured over ice, bright, acidic, familiar coffee flavor, lower caffeine (~120mg per 12oz). Cold brew wins in summer for smoothness and staying cold longer. Iced coffee wins if you love the coffee flavor you already know.
Cold brew: coarse-ground coffee steeped in cold water for 12-18 hours (we do 14). Filtered twice, bottled, refrigerated. No heat ever touches the beans. Iced coffee: coffee brewed hot (usually pour-over or drip), then poured over a lot of ice which cools it and dilutes it. Some cafes flash-brew iced coffee, brewing hot directly onto ice, which preserves more flavor. Both are 'cold coffee' but the extraction differences produce different drinks.
Cold brew: smooth, low-acidity, chocolate and cocoa forward. The extended cold steep pulls out different compounds than hot brewing does, you get more sweetness and less brightness. Iced coffee: brighter, more acidic, more traditionally 'coffee' tasting. Retains the origin character of the beans (citrus notes, floral notes, whatever the bean's profile is). If you like an Ethiopian pour-over, you'll like iced coffee. If you prefer chocolate-forward flavors, you'll prefer cold brew.
Cold brew has more. Our 12oz bottled cold brew is around 200mg caffeine, roughly double a standard iced coffee. This isn't because cold brew is inherently stronger; it's because the extended steep pulls more caffeine. If you want extra caffeine, cold brew wins. If you want less, iced coffee (or a diluted cold brew with more ice) works.

Cold brew, decisively. It's cold when it goes into your cup, no ice to melt from initial temperature difference. Iced coffee starts hot; the ice melts within 15-20 minutes and dilutes the drink. If you're taking coffee to go or drinking slowly over an hour, cold brew is better in transit.
At Café Mia, bottled cold brew is $6 (12oz). Iced coffee is $4-4.50 depending on preparation. Cold brew costs more because the process uses more coffee per serving and takes longer. Value-wise, cold brew is more caffeine per dollar; iced coffee is cheaper per drink.
Cold brew, by a wide margin. It ships in a sealed bottle, arrives cold, no dilution. Iced coffee arrives with mostly-melted ice and often looks watered-down. If you're ordering via GrubHub or DoorDash, cold brew is the smart move.
Order cold brew when: it's hot outside, you want smooth low-acid coffee, you need extra caffeine, you're taking it to go. Order iced coffee when: you love bright acidity, you want to taste the specific origin, you're drinking it immediately, you want less caffeine, you want to spend less.

Yes, significantly. Our 12oz bottled cold brew is ~200mg caffeine, versus ~120mg for a standard 12oz iced coffee. The extended cold steep pulls more caffeine per serving.
Different, not better. Cold brew is smoother and less acidic. Iced coffee has more traditional coffee flavor and highlights the bean's origin. If you love a specific origin coffee, order iced. If you want a smooth, chocolatey cold drink, order cold brew.

Cold brew, by far. Sealed bottle, arrives cold, no dilution. Iced coffee arrives with melted ice and watered-down flavor. For GrubHub or DoorDash orders, cold brew is the better choice.
