You'd think most Brooklyn cafes would be dog-friendly given how many dogs live in Bushwick. Most aren't, either explicitly no-dogs or awkwardly-you-can't-really-bring-them. Café Mia is straightforwardly dog-friendly: water bowls at the door, leashed dogs welcome at the outdoor seating during warm months, and staff who know most of our regulars' dogs by name.
Leashed dogs are welcome at our outdoor seating (spring through fall). Well-behaved dogs can also come inside during off-peak hours, we ask them to stay leashed and near their owners, not roaming. Water bowls are always available near the front. If your dog is anxious or reactive around other dogs, weekday mornings (9–11 AM) are your best bet.
The best morning routine for a Bushwick dog owner: walk to Café Mia, coffee to go, walk to Kosciuszko Park (3 minutes west), 20-minute park loop, return to Café Mia for a refill. Total: about 90 minutes. Most of our dog-owner regulars have some version of this routine.
We don't sell dog treats, but we usually have a jar of biscuits at the counter that we hand out to well-behaved dogs. If your dog has allergies or dietary restrictions, mention it, we'll skip the biscuit.
A-Grade Uji matcha, 4g dose, whisked fresh with oat milk over large-cube ice. Our #1 seller.
Real dragonfruit puree layered with A-Grade Uji matcha. Naturally sweet, vividly pink.
Fresh-squeezed lemonade meets whisked Uji matcha. Summer bestseller.
Don't leave your dog tied up outside unattended. Don't let a reactive dog interact with other dogs in the cafe. Don't bring a dog to a weekend brunch peak (11 AM–2 PM), too crowded, too stressful for the dog. And don't sneak your dog in without asking during winter when the outdoor seating is closed, talk to staff first.
If you're building a Bushwick dog-owner routine: Kosciuszko Park (3 min from us), Maria Hernandez Park (15 min walk), the pet supply shops along Wilson and Wyckoff, and a few dog-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood for lunch. Bushwick as a whole is one of the more dog-integrated Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Yes, water bowls are set out near the front door, refilled throughout the day. If it's not visible, ask any staff member and we'll bring one out.
Come during weekday mornings (9–11 AM) when the cafe is calmest. Avoid weekend brunch peak (11 AM–2 PM) which is busy and can be stressful for reactive dogs. Sidewalk seating gives you space away from other patrons if needed.
Kosciuszko Park is a 3-minute walk from the cafe. It's not a dedicated off-leash dog park, but it's a comfortable neighborhood green space where you can walk your dog on-leash. For off-leash dog parks, the closest are Maria Hernandez (further into Bushwick) and Herbert Von King (Bed-Stuy).
We don't sell dog treats but we usually have a jar of biscuits at the counter for well-behaved dogs, free, we hand them out to regulars. Tell us if your dog has allergies and we'll skip the biscuit.
