Most Bushwick cafes are built for solo work sessions or 2-tops, group gatherings become a table-shuffling exercise. Café Mia has enough combinable tables and open floor to seat groups of 6–12 without stress, and enough menu breadth that everyone finds something they want. For book clubs, birthday brunches, friend catchups, or small work off-sites, we're one of the few spots in the neighborhood that just works.
6–8 people: walk in, we'll combine tables. No advance notice needed on weekdays; 24 hours notice preferred on weekends. 8–12 people: call ahead, we'll reserve the back area of the cafe. 12–20 people: partial-cafe reservation, typically $200 food/drink minimum. 20+ people: full-cafe buyout during off-hours. Weekday mornings 9–11 AM: quietest, most flexible seating. Weekday afternoons 2–4 PM: great for book clubs and long catch-ups. Weekend mornings before 10 AM: quiet before brunch rush. Weekend brunch peak (11 AM–2 PM): possible but tight, we'd suggest a weekday for anything over 6 people if you can flex the timing.
For 6–8 people, order pattern is usually: 5–6 drinks + 3–4 food items to share + 3–4 pastries. Cost for that setup: usually $80–$110. If it's a birthday brunch, the pastry tray option (24 pieces for $90) is popular. If everyone wants their own meal, we can accommodate but the checkout process for individual tabs takes a few minutes with counter service.

The two connected long tables in the back seat 8 comfortably. Order counter drinks, spread out with books and papers, stay 90 minutes or 3 hours, no time limit for weekday afternoons. Book clubs are our second-favorite regular group (after remote work teams). The book club schedule that works: 2 PM start, orders in by 2:15, discussion until 4:00, second round of drinks, wrap by 4:30.
Team off-sites, quarterly planning, client working sessions, all work here. Wi-Fi is 250 Mbps, outlets at most tables, plenty of whiteboard-adjacent wall space (yes, we can lend you a small whiteboard from the office). Groups typically book 3–4 hour blocks. Small birthday brunches, engagement gatherings, family reunions passing through Brooklyn, all comfortable here. We can accommodate a birthday cake (bring your own; we'll bring plates and forks). Kids are welcome; we don't have a formal kids menu but the pastries and grain bowls work for most. No high chairs, so plan accordingly.

About 30 seated comfortably in normal operation, up to 45 people mixed seated/standing, 50 standing for receptions. Groups of 6–12 are our sweet spot for regular cafe hours.
Yes, bring your own cake and we'll provide plates, forks, and a knife. We don't sell birthday cakes or full-size cakes, but we can add candles and clear a table for the moment.
